The act that noted rational atheist Christopher Hitchens must employ on theologists when they attempt to enter discussions that require logic for proof and not “faith”.

Carlos Celdran and the “Damaso Incident”

•October 2, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Just recently,

On September 30, 2010, Carlos Celdran staged a protest action against church opposition to the reproductive health bill. Dressed as Jose Rizal, Celdran entered Manila Cathedral during a mass with Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales, the Papal Nuncio Archbishop Edward Adams, and other Catholic bishops present, standing before the altar with a sign bearing the word “DAMASO” — a reference to the villainous, power-wielding clergyman from Rizal’s novel Noli Me Tangere (novel), which touches on the abuses of the Spanish friars during the 19th century. He shouted “Stop getting involved in politics!” before he was taken away by the police at around 4:30 p.m. Once outside, Celdran said the Church officials “need to hear what the Filipinos are saying: that 90 percent of the people want the RH [Reproductive Health Bill].”

These holier-than-thou priests of the Roman Catholic Church just love meddling in the affairs of the people… but if someone meddles in their affairs, they are deeply hurt. DUH!

I support this action of Carlos Celdran.  It is about time that someone shows these old farts that we now live in the 21st century and not subject to their obsolete mythology

The supreme arrogance of religious thinking…

“The supreme arrogance of religious thinking: that a carbon-based bag of mostly water on a speck of iron-silicate dust around a boring dwarf star in a minor galaxy in an underpopulated local group of galaxies in an unfashionable suburb of a super-cluster would look up at the sky and declare, ‘It was all made so I could exist!”
